The International Spanish Language Academy (ISLA) Receives Prestigious Blue Ribbon School Designation
(Hanover, MD, October 1, 2013) The Charter Schools Development Corporation (CSDC) congratulates the International Spanish Language Academy (ISLA) in Minnetonka, Minnesota for being recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School. A “National Blue Ribbon Schools” designation has become a mark of excellence in education recognized by everyone from parents to policy-makers in thousands of communities. ISLA is certified as an International Baccalaureate World School whose students consistently achieve proficiency rates above local and state averages.
In August 2011, ISLA moved from its original church basement location into in a bright and vibrant new facility developed by CSDC through its Turnkey Development Program. The new location provided the school with much better access to public transportation, as well as a customized music classroom and a large state-of-the-art media center, none of which were available at the school’s former location. ISLA has grown its enrollment to 286 students with 50 students on the waitlist.
Founded in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ academic achievement.
