Type of Project:
• Acquisition of a former church situated on 5.91 acres of land.
• Phase I included gut renovation of an 11,000 sf former church/school building w/ 10 classrooms and specialty rooms, restrooms, a warming kitchen, administrative space, updated HVAC, electrical and plumbing, and bringing the building up to code.
• Phase II and Phase III included/s the addition of 10,000 sf of temporary modular units (7 + restroom facility).
• Phase IV, projected to begin in summer 2021 and be completed in 2022 will include the ground up construction of a 30,000 sf, three-story education building.

Value Added Results:
The building is located in the heart of a neighborhood in SW Atlanta that otherwise would not have any education in such close proximity. In addition, it provides students w/in the Atlanta public school System w/ a high quality education option vs Atlanta public schools which have struggled to perform for years.

In just three short years of operation the school made such a significant impact on the SE Atlanta neighborhood it’s located in, it drew the attention and support of many national CDFIs. This support enabled the school to exercise its purchase option and acquire the facility from CSDC in January 2022.
