Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Honors CSDC with Award of Excellence
(Hanover, MD, October 4, 2013) Every year, the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Inc., of Indiana/Kentucky recognizes “merit shop” contractors who excel in innovation, quality, safety, and communication. The Charter Schools Development Corporation (CSDC) is pleased to announce that, together with its general contractor, Meyer Najem Construction, received the 2013 “Award of Excellence” for its economic and efficient design and construction of the Charles A. Tindley Preparatory Academy (TPA) in Indianapolis, IN.
The $5.7 million construction project included the ground-up construction of a 40,800 square foot, 1-story academic facility featuring 16 classrooms, 2 science labs, an art room, a multipurpose room equipped with a full-service kitchen, a nurse’s station, as well as a newly-constructed 10,000 square foot gymnasium for the school. TPA is an all-boys middle school designed to help young urban boys become successful scholars regardless of their past academic performance. At full capacity, the new facility will offer 400 predominately African American and low-income students access to “a powerful learning experience that intellectually engages, inspires, and spurs academic achievement through a challenging and interactive curriculum.” For more information on the school, please visit http://www.tindleyprep.org/.
CSDC and Meyer Najem received the award at ABC’s annual awards banquet held on September 25th the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
