The Daniels Fund, established by the late Bill Daniels, partners with individuals, organizations, and communities to recognize inherent value, develop abilities, and provide opportunities in order to fulfill their collective potential. Bill Daniels had a strong conviction that all kids deserve a great education. His trust in the free market system made him a firm believer in competition and alternative approaches, particularly those that provide high-quality choices. The Daniels Fund honors his vision through its support of K-12 educational reform initiatives such as charter schools, portable vouchers for tuition assistance, and significant innovations that challenge the status quo.
In March 2007, CSDC received a $3 million grant from the Daniels Fund which CSDC is matching 1:2 with federal credit enhancement grant funds. CSDC has pledged this grant as first loss loan reserve under the Mountain West Charter Schools Fund. Launched in the fall of 2010, the MWCSF provides facility loans to charter schools located in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
