Austin Frum, Chairman Emeritus
Austin P. Frum, a founding member of CSDC's Board of Directors
and its Chairman since February 2002, passed away on January 4,
2008 at the age of 74. Mr. Frum was an Arlington lawyer who
specialized in real estate development and housing finance and was
an advocate for affordable housing in Arlington County. Born in
Cleveland, he served in the Navy from 1955 to 1958. He graduated
cum laude in English from Amherst College in 1955 and received a
law degree from Harvard University in 1961.
Mr. Frum's community activities included memberships on the
National Board, Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary
Education, U.S. Department of Education; the Board of Directors of
Friendship House, a settlement house on Capitol Hill; and the Board
of Directors of the Chesapeake Foundation, a church affiliated
group which provided technical and financial assistance to minority
business enterprises. He was also President of the American School
of Kinshasa, Zaire.
